Marketing with YouTube

Image
I'm sure at some point in all of our lives we have watched a YouTube video. Some of us have maybe even created and posted a video of our own. Regardless, YouTube is a big enough platform that it is well known to many. In chapter 10 of "Essentials of Social Media Marketing" dives into the marketing strategy behind YouTube and how the platform uses it to their advantage.  When scrolling through YouTube or other social media platforms, most people find videos more intriguing and eye catching than posts filled with hundreds of words. It has been proven that "81 percent of businesses use video in their marketing strategies, and 93 percent of businesses gain a new customer after publishing a video on publishing". This is perfect for YouTube, as the platform is strictly for video usage.  In order for brands to be successful on YouTube, they have to constantly post content that are catered to their target audiences. Brands also have to pursue a strong YouTube content

Fun Weekend Activities!

Image
This past weekend we were supposed to have a meet at Indiana Wesleyan. Thanks to the cold temps and snow, the meet was sadly canceled. With another free weekend on our hands, we wondered what we would do. Friday night, my roommate, our two other friends, and I went to Beer Barrel for dinner. I feel like I talk about Beer Barrel a lot here, and I do. It's one of our favorite places to eat so of course we go there all the time! Dinner was great like usual, and we headed back to campus. We ended up watching a movie after. I forget the name of it but it was pretty scary. I hate jump scare movies and that is exactly what this movie was! After the movie we all went back to our rooms and went to bed. I was so tired and we had practice the next morning so I needed some sleep. Saturday morning eventually came and so did practice. It was freezing out. It was raining, snowing, even hailing at one point. My coach wanted to do something fun for us since the meet was canceled so we ended up do

Marketing with LinkedIn

Image
When you think of LinkedIn, most think of a social networking platform where people of all different backgrounds or jobs connect with one another. While that is indeed true, there is more than one side to LinkedIn. One aspect that we don't usually consider with this platform is its' marketing aspect. In Chapter 9 of "Essentials of Social Media Marketing" it highlights how marketing plays such a huge role in the development and success of the platform.  LinkedIn has over 30 million company pages, and its' platform gives these companies the ability to build deep relationships with employees and customers, while also gaining valuable sales leads. LinkedIn is the number one platform for buyer-to-buyer marketers (B2B) to distribute content. This is very impactful as it helps a company reach out to other marketers and get their name out there. In fact, ninety-two percent of B2B marketers, use this platform over others because of the reliability, credibility, and oppor

St Patrick's Day!

Image
If you didn't wear green on St Patrick’s Day, what were you doing?   Last week was St Patrick’s Day and while I usually don't do much for the holiday, this year was different. My friends and I knew we wanted to get cute shirts so during the week we went looking at various stores such as Walmart, Meijer, etc. We got pretty lucky at Walmart, finding cute and funny shirts. My shirt had Lucky Charms on it while Larkins had a dabbing leprechaun with a pot of gold. So funny! We spent that Saturday doing various activities. We played cornhole, which I sadly lost at, hit around the volleyball, threw around a football, and other different activities. It was pretty cold, but luckily there was a bonfire where we were. After playing all the different games we warmed up by the fire, talking to everyone there and meeting new people. We're all pretty social so we left having many new friends.    Later on, that evening we grabbed Wow with some of our other friends and just hung out.

Marketing with Pinterest

Image
Have you ever heard of an app where the main concept was to "Pin" different things that you liked? Well if so, then you probably know of the app I'm talking about then. Pinterest is a social sharing network where people can share and discover different ideas. Chapter 8 of "Essentials of Social Media Marketing" highlights this app and how marketing plays a huge role in it. The app itself is pretty simple, with only 3 major components to it. The home feed is essentially one of the most important aspects of the app. It shows Pins saved by the people you follow as well as other topics and boards. The Pins that you see on your screen when you open the app likely include an image or video, description and potentially a link to an online source. After clicking on a Pin, users can choose to save, comment and share. They are then moved to a board that is created by users, combining different Pins with different ideas. Overall, the app is fairly easy to navigate through.

Spring Break!

Image
Last week was my spring break and it was such a good week. I did a lot over the break, but I'll keep this blog short and highlight some of the things that were the most fun to me. The first couple days of break I spent with my friends. Larkin and Olyvia came over and we did a lot of different things. We ran our workouts and easy run togethers, shopped and bought way too many clothes, took tons and tons of pictures, ate at some of our favorite food places, and overall, just had a good time with each other. It felt like we were back at school hanging out and having fun like usual.  The overall highlight of my break though was going to New York to see Hamilton on Broadway. Back in December, my family and I took a mini vacation to New York City for the week. I've been to New York multiple times, but this trip was supposed to be special. We were supposed to see Hamilton at Richards Rodgers Theatre during that trip, but due to covid, it was sadly canceled. My parents knew how much I

Notre Dame vs Florida State

Image
For my social media class, one of my assignments were to live tweet about an event. At first, I wasn't sure what I would tweet about and searched for various sporting events happening this week. When I saw Notre Dame was playing, I knew I had to cover that event. My family is a huge Notre Dame family since my brother goes there and it was perfect! I only covered the first half of the game, but a lot happened in those 20 minutes. The Seminoles took the lead very early at the beginning of the game, having at most a 5-point lead on the Fighting Irish. It didn't take long for the Irish to close that gap though. Up until there were 8 minutes left in the first half, the Seminoles were consistently leading by 3 points. Notre Dame took the lead with 8:09 left in the half with Wesley leading the team with 9 points. The Seminoles would respond though and tie up the game to make it 27-27. The two teams went back and forth for some time and with 1:39 left in the first half, the score w

Conference Meet

Image
This weekend I had the opportunity to race at the Ohio Athletic Conference Meet, hosted by Mount Union. We left Friday morning and headed off on our long, but enjoyable drive. Every time we travel, I sit by my roommate and best friend, Olyvia. We sat behind Maus on the bus, which was a lot of fun. We were messing around with him the whole time, making the ride go by fast. The meet was a two-day meet, and I didn't race until Saturday, so Friday was a pretty easy day for me. I did our usual prerace run, stretched, and rolled out. It was nice to be able to cheer on my teammates and not stress about racing. The events ended around 7pm Friday night, and we headed for the hotel for team dinner. We had our typical prerace dinner, pasta! It was so good! After our dinner, we did our day 1 recap and then met to talk about our races tomorrow. At that point it was 9pm and a lot of us were tired by then. We headed up to our rooms and I hung out with Olyvia, JJ, and Sydney, my roommates for th
