Fun Weekend Activities!
This past weekend we were supposed to have a
meet at Indiana Wesleyan. Thanks to the cold temps and snow, the meet was sadly
canceled. With another free weekend on our hands, we wondered what we would do.
Friday night, my roommate, our two other friends, and I went to Beer Barrel for
dinner. I feel like I talk about Beer Barrel a lot here, and I do. It's one of
our favorite places to eat so of course we go there all the time! Dinner was
great like usual, and we headed back to campus. We ended up watching a movie
after. I forget the name of it but it was pretty scary. I hate jump scare
movies and that is exactly what this movie was! After the movie we all went
back to our rooms and went to bed. I was so tired and we had practice the next
morning so I needed some sleep.
Saturday morning eventually came and so did practice. It was
freezing out. It was raining, snowing, even hailing at one point. My coach
wanted to do something fun for us since the meet was canceled so we ended up
doing a 30-lap relay. We were divided into teams of 6 and each team could
decide how many laps each person runs. I ran 3 laps, and my team ended up
winning the whole relay. It was so much fun but so cold at the same time that
we were ready to get out of there. After practice, we had lunch with 3 or 4
recruits and hung out with them for a couple hours. We had a busy day ahead of
us! It seemed like time was going by so fast. After the recruits left, my
friends and I headed over to our girls senior cross country house. We baked
with one of our best friends and favorite senior, Tessa. Sadly, Rue wasn't
there so we had to bake without her. We played a card game after, and it was so
much fun. Luckily Tessa is coming back next year for a 5th year, so we don't
have to say goodbye to her just yet. I already know I'm going to miss her so
much. Later that evening, we left to get ready for our semi-formal dance at the
cross country house. I love getting dressed up and it ended up being so much
fun! We took so many cute pictures, it was definitely a great way to end such a
busy, but fun and memorable day.
I almost attended Indiana Wesleyan actually, due to it being a family member's alma mater. It sucks to hear that the track meet was canceled, but it's always fun to go to a new area with friends, explore and enjoy some time together. I'm not the most knowledgeable on track, I didn't know that you all practiced the day after a meet. Does the track team get any days off at all? I can't imagine that schedule and how it must feel on the legs.
ReplyDeleteBeer Barrel is fantastic and I am almost upset that I did not discover it until this year. It is a go to spot for the seniors on the lacrosse team and I feel like we are eating there at least twice a month for our senior dinner nights that we do once a week. It sucks to have events cancelled though, seems a common theme as we had our lacrosse game in Buffalo cancelled last week because the other team "didn't have enough players to field a team".
ReplyDeleteIt sounded like you had a blast. It is always an amazing time being with your friends. It's about the memories that you make in life that are important. On another note, I've always wanted to go to beer barrel, it seems amazing. Remember spend time with your friends, they will always be there for you.
